Note: Even though hard disk drive may be upgraded, it’s not necessarily meant to be removed and reinserted frequently. Repeated and frequent removal, for purposes in addition to to upgrade for greater capacity or problem determination, could cause problems for the system. Power down, get rid of the power cord, and remove battery through the ThinkPad system before treatment of drive.
If another similar method is available, then verify the drive works in the other system. If perhaps hard drive works in another system, the initial ThinkPad method is probably to blame. Test the hard drive for errors from the working configuration to make sure proper operation. Then, contact Support.
